This article examines the current state of the theory of fracture of metals under the influence of strain and temperature. A method for calculating thermal stress from the experimental values of microhardness. The statistical model of cluster formation carriers brittle fracture. A formula is obtained that describes the entire area of the deformed state of the solid, including the process of destruction. A thermodynamic model of heat resistance of metals and metal coatings and its relationship to surface energy. Comparison with experiment confirmed the correctness of the model. A relation between the speed of process failure and melting point metal or metal coating.
